Personal Profile

London based creative web developer - Umbraco certified

profile

I am a contract / freelance (Microsoft .NET) web developer based in West London. I am enthusiastic and enjoy challenging projects and creative working environments. I have ten years of commercial experience and I have worked for small digital agencies, large corporate organisations and the public sector.

Throughout my career I have worked mostly in smaller teams dealing directly with management and other departments such as IT secutiry, networks teams, graphic design studios, third party agencies and also have a lot of experience in dealing direct with clients. I have also worked in larger global teams in more structured corporate environments. I believe this experience has been invaluable, enabling me to gain exposure to all aspects and processes throughout the lifecycle of web projects, whatever the size of the business.

I would class my core skill set as back-end .NET / SQL and ASP.NET MVC, although I have a passion for all web technologies including front-end and web design. I have worked extnsively on CMS driven sites and have recently completed two greenfield Umbraco projects, I am an Umbraco Level 2 Certified Developer on version 7.1.

My last two roles have been at senior and lead level and I enjoy being involved in managing small teams in an agile environment.

From January to April 2013, I was in a contract role at the British Museum. The role was a short term 2-3 month project to integrate three of the museums systems. This involves working with a fundraising CRM system (Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge), an e-commerce web platform (Venda) and an in-house intranet portal. Most of the work was centered on importing / synchronizing of data between the CRM and e-commerce platform, using the COM/.NET API provided by the CRM software vendor and web services provided by the e-commerce platform. The majority of the work involved securing the system and preparing it to support mass client use during the 2012 Olympic Games. After that I worked on the redevelopment of this product to enable it to be used across mobile platforms and integration with a new software VPN product. I was also heavily involved in developing a corporate app store product for Barclays which was built using MVC3 and JQuery Mobile. Technologies used in this role include, ASP.NET MVC 3 & 4, ASP.NET Web API, WCF, Entity Framework, SQL Server 2008. I also set up continuous integration for the project using TeamCIty. Time Inc. UK / IPC Media

Senior .NET Developer (Contract) / London, UK / December 2009 - June 2012

I worked as a contractor as part of Time Inc / IPC Media’s IT development team from November 2009 to June 2012. I was initially contracted for 6 months to re-develop the company’s corporate intranet. After completing the initial contract I worked on many other web/database/software development projects for the company across their diverse range of magazine publications. These ranged from an advertising pricing calculator for Time Magazine, a software asset management system for the IT department and a data warehousing project for analysing web advertising statistics.

All projects were been built on Microsoft technology using ASP.NET (4.0), C#, LINQ and SQL Server 2008. The CMS behind the Intranet was based on Alterian CMC which is a .net based system, although I was in the process of re-developing it using Umbraco. I also used Telerik Rad Controls for ASP.NET extensively on other projects.
